Brunswick Acres Elementary School is in the South Brunswick School District in Kendall Park, New Jersey. The school has grades K through 5, including an Autism program. I have been the school nurse since 2011.
If you have any questions about your child's health or need guidance, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will try my best to give you the most up to date and accurate information from the CDC and our NJ State Health Department. I am also available to allay any fears and/ or help with other medical questions.
Please remember, having lice is not a sign of uncleanliness or poor hygiene. Anyone can get it. They usually spread from person to person by direct head to head contact or sharing items such as hats, combs and brushes. They can't fly or jump. Checking your child regularly is the best prevention, and if nits are found it's much easier to remove and treat in the earlier stages.

Deciding when to keep your child home from school for illness can be difficult. Please click on the link below for guidelines to help you. Not only does sending sick students to school put classmates and staff at risk of also getting sick, I often see those students pick up other illnesses while their immune system is compromised and end up missing extended school days to recover from multiple illnesses.
Tender Smiles Mobile Dentist will be coming back to our school on October 9th and 12th, 2020.

Students who come to the health office for injury or illness will be assessed and treated. As a school nurse, I do not make medical diagnoses. I give first aid for minor injuries. Parents will only be notified if I feel further medical evaluation is needed. Children complaining of illness who have made multiple visits to the office, are running fever, or have physical symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea or rash, will be sent home. The school health office is not a clinic. We do not do physical exams or diagnostic testing. If your child has complaints or symptoms of illness or injury at home, please schedule an appointment with your family physician for an evaluation. |
